Arabic Qawaa'id

It is known that 20% of Arabic grammar is repeated 80% of the time. Based on this concept, the Arabic Qawaa'id was designed by IZA, incorporating a set of twenty-five key Arabic grammar rules selected from the most commonly used and recurring topics in Nahw (Syntax) and Sarf (Morphology).

Syllabus Aims and Objectives

The rules are presented in a step-by-step method, enabling students to gain confidence in applying each rule. Every rule is demonstrated through exercises and practical skills, with translation practice from Arabic to English and vice versa.

Each lesson includes at least 15–20 verses from the Quran that are directly related to the grammar rule being studied.

This method empowers students to understand each rule independently, building confidence in applying the grammar while translating the Quran.

Mastering Arabic grammar provides the essential tools to analyse the linguistic composition of the Quran’s divine verses, enabling a deeper understanding of the true words of Allah (SWT).

Syllabus Content

Year 1:
In the first year, students will be taught the key Arabic grammar rules and their application using Qur’anic texts as exercises.

Year 2:
Quran Translation

In this year students will translate Surah Yasin and Surah Yusuf from the Quran without the use of any translation or transliteration.

Surah Yusuf is chosen for this module due to its relevance to young people. Its contents include good behaviour with parents, respect and love for parents and siblings, protection of the eyes and protecting one’s faith and chastity in youth. Such lessons are important in our era for all young people and our society is in need of such education.

Surah Yasin is frequently recited in many occasions, translating such a Surah will open up its meanings and hence its significance to all students.

Upon completing this course, participants should have the ability to independently study and analyse the verses of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, understanding their basic meanings.
